Mother's Day

Sometimes I cannot believe that I am a Mom. It's crazy, but great! We had a family lunch at Texas De Brazil. Mother's were free for Mother's Day and the kids are free anytime. All they eat is the bacon anyways. It's a yummy place if you like all u can eat meats. I love the filet minion wrapped in bacon. Well done of course. Oh and the sticky rice. MMMM! The mimosas weren't too shabby either. LOVE EM!! After lunch we headed from Addison over to Allen to shop at the outlet mall. I found a pair of cute jeans at Banana Republic. They were on sale too!! WOOP!! That's always nice. Of course the kids had to ride all the electric things. So dirty and nasty. Oh well that's what hand sanitizer is for huh? After that we headed home and I was able to take a nice nap while Richard took the kids to Lowe's so they could work in the flower bed. We still have a lot of work to do in that darn thing. UGH! It's looking better though. Then it was subway for dinner since our lunch was so filling and not too healthy. We had way too much red meat at lunch.
The first photo is what Emily made me at school. It's cute huh? A flower pot with her picture on it. Ryan drew me lots of circles in the card he got for me. Richard said he was working really hard on them. Too cute! I hope all the Mommies out there had a fantastic Mother's Day.

Easter

What a crappy morning it was for Easter. The kids had to hunt eggs inside the house once again. Why does it always seem to rain on Easter here? Oh well, they were excited anyways. Emily started to get grumpy for some reason while hunting eggs. She wasn't picking up any of the plastic ones. I asked her what was wrong and she told me that the bunny didn't hide any of the ones they colored. OOOPS!! I totally forgot to hide those at 5AM!! So I told her maybe they were all upstairs. So she went up there and I quickly hid the ones from the fridge. I told her to look harder downstairs. She saw one and her face lit up. UGH!! Things that make kids sad and happy. Crazy!! Ryan was happy to find any type of egg. He liked to open his as soon as he found one. They each had 3 special eggs that they had to find that was theirs. Emily had 3 Hello Kitty shaped eggs and Ryan had 3 Lightning McQueen shaped eggs. Each one had money it in. We did not go to church on Easter. We decided to go the night before to beat the crowd on Easter Sunday since that is one of the days people decide to go if they don't go at all during the year. The kids planted seeds in a cup of soil to watch Jesus rise from the dead. Well, too bad they didn't work. The weather was too cloudy here, so I replanted some new beans in the cup and yesterday the kids were able to see them sprout. Thank goodness. Emily asked me everyday about those darn things. She told me that it was only supposed to take 3 days. HA!! I wish it only took 3 days for seeds to sprout.

Spring Break

Oh, so glad it's over. It's so much harder when both kids are at home 24/7. The fighting and screaming drives me crazy. God keeps me sane though. I talked to him a lot this past week. So, I took the kids to see my Mom and brother in Austin last Monday. We then went to my parents new house in Schulenburg on Tuesday. We stayed through Thursday. I was so happy to get home that I drove the 5 hours instead of pit stopping again in Austin. It was tough, but I did it. The kids had a great time playing with the donkey and riding the tractor and the buggy. They planted a little garden with Grandpa. Some carrots, tomatoes and beans. I love cilantro so much that I bought a little plant to grow in the backyard. Hopefully I can keep it alive. The kids always seem to suffer from allergies after about 2 days of being there. Both of them are still not well. Ryan has been so congested and Emily is not feeling well at all today. She looks puny and feel asleep on her own. She was running some fever. I hope she is better in the morning because she really doesn't want to miss school. I might end up taking both kids in tomorrow. YUCK!! She wants to go to show off her hog bones she found while riding around at the property. GROSS!! I had to bring those nasty things home. Skull head and all. CREEPY!! She loves it though. My little scientist. I will post some photos when I get a chance. Donkey was the best. So annoying, but cute. As I was writing this out, Ryan is naked waist down with a toy screwdriver working on the door handle:-) My little naked Handy Manny.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Richard and I have been looking forward to this day more than Emily has. There was no excitement from her whatsoever. Earlier in the week I went and ordered her corsage and Richard's boutonniere. I got red roses with black ribbon since her dress was a deep red and black. Richard picked those up today around noon. That is the smallest corsage I have seen. It was so cute. She wore a dress that Richard's Dad and Step mom sent for Christmas 2 years ago. YES, it still fits and this was the first time she ever wore it. It was too big when they sent it. I bought her some new shoes and got some black tights. I fixed her hair as best I could. Her hair and mine don't curl very well. She liked it and that's all that mattered. They left around 5:45 so they could get in and get their pictures taken. While there, Richard called to let me know that they ended up buying some things. GREAT!! They get you all the time. MONEY MONEY MONEY!! It was a masked ball, so she bought a mask and a boa. Richard got some picture frames for their photos. Emily started to cry at the dance and Richard called me so I talked to her. She said she wanted her Mommy. All that means is I'm tired and want to go to bed. She didn't want me. I talked to her and calmed her down. This was around 7. Well around 7:30 I hear the garage door open and was surprised they were home so early. Emily said it was too loud and that all her friends had left as well due to the noise. So all that hard work for an hour. Hope it's better next year.

Joys of a long car ride home

We visited my parents Tuesday for my Dad's birthday in Schulenburg, TX where they are building their new house. We were contemplating if we were going to go or not. We decided to after the hotel would not give us our money back. There are no quality hotels down there. The best is the Best Western where we always stay. We were trying to get out of it because Emily's asthma so they say has been really bad this week. The first night was fine because we got there kinda late and the kids couldn't really play outdoors. So Emily stayed inside with my Mom til we left to go to the hotel. Oh, the next day which was Wed. is a different story. She was able to go outside for a quick ride on the gator, but was told to come right back inside after that. Yeah, not so much. She was outside for a good part of the day. Grandparents always seem to go against the parental rules for some reason. Reason being they give them back to us. Her cough Wed. night was so awful and just loud and annoying. It takes her awhile to get calmed and under control. We left this morning around 11:30 and went to Whataburger for lunch. The kids didn't eat their food which isn't surprising. We were on the road for about oh 30 minutes and then I hear Ryan start to cough a little and I turned my head to look at him and there was a waterfall of white coming from his mouth. It kept coming and coming and coming. It was so GROSS! I yelled to Richard to pull OVER!! Oh the smell. Of course we have nothing to clean it up with but baby wipes. We had to yank him out and change him, then we had to yank out his car seat to dump all the puke out of it. We pulled off the cover and all the belts and what not. I called my parents who came to our rescue and brought trash bags, rags, lysol, windex and help. They were the puke patrol. So, by the time we were done cleaning and getting the kids rearranged, it was 1:28 when we left the side of the road in La Grange, TX. This is all going on while Emily is hacking up a lung and needs help blowing her nose every 5 minutes it seemed like. I hear Ryan again starting to cough, so we drive to Lexington and stop at the Shell station. I go in to use the restroom as well as to buy some supplies just in case he wasn't done barfing. I bought trash bags, paper towels and some sprite hoping it would settle his tummy. Thank the lord I did that! We had just go onto the Dallas North tollway when I hear him coughing and whining and sticking his fingers in his mouth. I knew it was coming. I yelled at Richard and sure enough, he puked again. This time Richard was able to catch it in a trash bag. God we were so ready to get home. The car smelled so bad even with spraying lysol. It usually takes us about 5 hours to get from here to there, but I drove like a bat out of hades and we got home in 3 1/2 hours from that stopping point in La Grange. So, that was our fun filled New Years. Hope everyone else's was better.

Christmas

Christmas was a lonely one this year. It was just the 4 of us. The kids had a great time though opening gifts. It didn't bother them any that family wasn't around this year. My parents came up, but left on Christmas Eve. Emily was thrilled that she finally got the Nintendo DS she had been begging us for. Ryan got a Lightning McQueen big wheel that he loves to ride around the house since it's too chilly to go outside. He also got a basketball hoop that he likes to play with in his room. I was shocked when I opened Rock Band from my parents as well as the stand mixer. Richard got an air compressor which was needed since my tires seem to always need air in them. He also got a digital photo frame for his desk at work. We had ordered a turkey from Rudy's so I didn't have to cook that day. I was so thankful Richard did that because we have been so tired due to the kids having their sicknesses and asthma. It's been a doozy around here.
